Check two — send yourself an email
From an account that is not on this domain — a phone, a personal address, anything outside it — send a message to:
Wait for it to arrive, and check the spam folder before you decide it did not.
If you are doing this soon after you changed the record, a message that arrives proves less than it looks like it does. Mail can keep arriving by the old path for as long as your previous MX rows are still held in caches elsewhere — that is the TTL those rows carried before the change, the same TTL step 1 suggested lowering. Until it has passed, an arriving message may be taking the route you just replaced.
We do not know when you made the change at your provider, so we cannot tell you whether enough time has passed. You can. If it has been less than the old TTL — for many domains most of a day — treat an arrival as encouraging rather than settled, and send yourself another one later.
Nothing here is watching on your behalf. We are not monitoring your mail, there is no timer running, and nothing will prompt you to come back. This page and the “my email stopped” route stay where they are, permanently, including after this reads as finished.
Nothing has been logged by pressing that, and nothing will remind you. Put it in your own calendar for later today or tomorrow, send one more message from outside the domain, and come back here. Until you do, this stays unfinished — which is the honest state of it.
